Logging in as a CGL candidate
The Combined Graduate Level exam recruits graduates for Group B and Group C posts in central ministries and departments. The 2026 exam lists about 12,256 tentative vacancies (CGL 2026 notice (opens in a new tab), §3.1). You apply and track every stage through the same SSC candidate account you created at One-Time Registration. There is no separate CGL login.

Post preferences: the step people miss
CGL preferences are collected through an online Option Form before the first round of allocation. Candidates who don't submit it in time are not considered for any post, and submitted options are final (notice (opens in a new tab), §15.5–15.6).
Some posts carry physical or medical standards, among them CBIC Inspectors, CBN, NCB, CBI, NIA and BRO. Check them before you rank those posts.
CGL candidate checklist
- At application: a saved copy of the qualification details you entered.
- Each tier: city slip, admit card, and the response sheet saved as soon as it is out.
- Objections: only substantive ones, within the window. The CGL 2026 notice (opens in a new tab) sets the fee at ₹100 per question, non-refundable (§13.3), higher than some other 2026 exams. See how SSC judges objections.
- Before the Option Form opens: research posts and their standards, so you are not ranking them under deadline pressure.
- For document verification: user departments run DV after the final result. Keep original photo ID, two photos and certificates (Class 10, degree, category or disability where applicable) ready (§15).
CGL login tips
- Save each tier's response sheet as soon as it is out. It is the only record of what you marked.
- Keep a note of the marks window. Marks are generally viewable for a limited time after release.
- “SSC CGL login 2025” vs “2026”: the login is the same; only the exam cycle in your dashboard changes.
